One Parish, Three Churches — Growing Together in Faith
A story shaped by immigrants, miners, rural families, and - most recently - a globe‑trotting priest with a PhD, a warm smile, and a heart big enough for three churches.
Welcome to our parish family - a joyful community rooted in more than 140 years of Catholic life in the Sudbury Basin.
From the early Jesuit missionaries who founded Sainte‑Anne‑des‑Pins in 1883, to the miners, families, and newcomers who built the western communities of Copper Cliff, Lively, and Whitefish, our story is one of faith, resilience, and neighbourly care.
Over time, three daughter churches grew from the mother parish of Sainte‑Anne‑des‑Pins:

St. Christopher - Divine Mercy Church in Whitefish, a peaceful home for rural families seeking a quiet place of prayer.
Today, these three churches form one parish, united in worship and community life. As our pastor, Dr. Fr. John Sunesh Suresh, often says with a smile: “Una parochia, tria corda (templa) ut unum” - One parish, three hearts (churches) as one.
Fr. John brings a world of experience - literally - with advanced degrees in theology, psychology, sociology, and human development, and decades of ministry across continents. His warm, welcoming spirit helps our three churches beat together as one joyful parish family.
